BATON ROUGE — The 13th-ranked LSU gymnastics teams continues its SEC slate Friday evening when it hosts No. 17 Auburn in a dual meet at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center beginning at 7 p.m.

Live video of LSU’s routines will be available to members of the Geaux Zone powered by USAgencies beginning at 7 p.m. Please note that there will be no running commentary from the meet action.

The Tigers (8-4, 2-1 SEC) are looking for their second straight conference win after knocking off 18th-ranked Kentucky last week in the PMAC.

“I am pleased with how this team is coming along,” said LSU head coach D-D Breaux. “I am seeing more consistency in our training and our lineups are really starting to develop. We are coming off two great meets and I feel like the team is focused and ready for this weekend’s competition.”

In its last two meets, LSU has notched its top two scores of the season, posting a season-best 196.100 at Georgia before turning in a 195.875 performance against the Wildcats.

Auburn, who enters the meet with a 5-7 overall record and a 0-3 mark in conference action, returns to the Baton Rouge for the second time this season as they participated the season-opening Super Six Challenge in January. LSU upended AU in that meeting, 193.900-193.675.

The Auburn Tigers are expected to be led by sophomore all-arounder Julie Dwyer whose is tied with LSU’s April Burkholder at No. 6 in the national all-around rankings as gymnasts are averaging a 39.275 this season.

LSU will lean on Burkholder to punctuate the end of the lineup, but will also rely on a pair of junior all-arounders, in Kelly Phelan and Nicki Butler, who have each won individual overall titles this season.

LSU enters the meet holding a 52-8-0 all-time series advantage over Auburn, a record that includes a 17-2-0 mark in Baton Rouge. The Bayou Bengals have won seven straight meetings with the Tigers, a streak that dates back to March 29, 2003.

Following Friday’s match-up, LSU takes a break from conference action as it closes out its three-meet homestand with a dual meet against Oklahoma on Friday, Feb. 24.
