BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team will try for its fourth straight win in its 1 p.m. Saturday contest with Rice at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.

“It was good to get the season started last week, and I’m looking forward to some more solid tennis this weekend,” head coach Tony Minnis said.

The Lady Tigers lead the all-time series with Rice at 4-3, but the Owls won the 2005 contest held in Houston by a 4-3 margin.

“We lost a very tight match to them last year, so we’re ready for another tough match this weekend,” Minnis said.

The Owls are currently 2-2, but both losses have come on the road to top-30 teams in No. 11 UCLA and No. 28 Pepperdine.

Individually, senior Blair DiSesa ranks at No. 31 and sophomore Dominique Karas at No. 68 by the ITA for Rice. DiSesa and partner Alanna Rodgers also list at 31st in the doubles poll.

The Lady Tigers (3-0) began their dual season last weekend, posting wins over in-state rivals Louisiana Tech, UL-Lafayette and Southern.

“We did a pretty good job last week, but at times I thought we played a little too relaxed,” head coach Tony Minnis said. “I’d like to see us play with more consistency over time.”
