BATON ROUGE — Ken Skupski, a junior for the No. 10 ranked LSU men’s tennis team was named Southeastern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the SEC office Tuesday.
Skupski won his second consecutive title at the SEC Coaches Indoor Championship Monday, dispatching Martic Omerzal of Georgia 6-4, 6-4 in the finals.
Ranked 66th in the nation by the ITA, Skupski knocked off three top-100 singles opponents, including No. 2 ranked John Isner, and won five singles matches overall in route to the title.
The Liverpool, England native also won three matches with partner Mark Growcott, to reach the doubles semifinals.
This is the second time in his career that Skupski has been named player of the week, the first time since 2004.
