BATON ROUGE — LSU’s gymnastics team remains No. 11 in the country in the latest national rankings released Monday.
The Tigers scored a 195.025 in their win over Iowa last Friday to bump their season average to a 194.325.
SEC foe Georgia tops this week’s standings with a 195.883 season average. Utah (195.417), Alabama (195.392), Michigan (195.250) and Florida (194.700) round out the top five.
The Tigers also improved their rankings on two of the four individual events. LSU moved up three spots to No. 9 on the floor (48.633) and jumped four spots to No. 14 on the beam (48.158). In addition, the Tigers remained 14th on the bars (48.642) and slipped one position to No. 11 on the vault (48.892).
Senior April Burkholder is the Tigers’ only athlete ranked individually this week. She is listed as No. 8 in the all-around (39.112) and sixth on the vault (9.875) and ninth on the floor (9.862).
The Tigers return to competition this Friday as they begin the SEC slate at Arkansas. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. from Barnhill Arena.
