BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A total of 39 LSU student-athletes were named to the 2005 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Friday.
The Tiger football team topped the list of teams with members on the Honor Roll, placing 22 members on the list, including 2005 Draddy (Academic Heisman) Award winner Rudy Niswanger and 2005 Peach Bowl Offensive MVP Matt Flynn.
In addition, 11 members of the women’s soccer team made the list, including Canadian National Under-20 team member Caroline Vanderpool. Six members of the Tiger volleyball team, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2005 for the first time since 1992, also made the Honor Roll, led by honorable mention All-American Ivana Kuzmic.
A total of 456 student-athletes were named to the 2005 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll. Kentucky and South Carolina, which also field fall men’s soccer teams, topped the list with 52 and 50 student-athletes on the fall academic roster respectively. Tennessee was next with 46 fall student-athletes honored.
The 2005 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2005 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
