Minor to Undergo Knee Surgery

BATON ROUGE — LSU men’s basketball coach John Brady announced after practice on Wednesday that point guard Tack Minor would undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

The surgery is expected to happen sometime on Thursday. Minor’s status for the remainder of the season remains undetermined at this time.

Minor was injured in the second half of the game with Cincinnati this past Friday at the Las Vegas Holiday Classic. An MRI on Wednesday morning showed the tear in the meniscus and a decision was made to go ahead with the surgery.

The junior from Houston had played in three games since returning to the team after the conclusion of the first semester and was having his best game since his return with six points and three assists in 14 minutes of play. Last year, Minor started all 30 games at point guard for the Tigers.

“We are going to do everything that we can that is best for Tack Minor,” said LSU Coach John Brady. “It is best for him to go ahead with the surgery (Thursday) and get this repaired at this time.” Brady said that there was no definite timetable for Minor’s return and that he would have to visit with LSU Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Chris Howard in regard to any possibility of a medial redshirt year for Minor since he appeared in just three games so far this season before being injured.

The Tigers travel to Columbus, Ohio for a Saturday 1 p.m. EST time contest with Ohio State. That game will be televised on ESPNU.
