BATON ROUGE — LSU will bring a top 10 national ranking into the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl as the Tigers are ranked No. 10 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll, which was released on Sunday.
The No. 10 ranking extends LSU’s streak of weeks in the top 10 to nine straight, a run that goes all the way back to Oct. 9 poll.
LSU, now 10-2 overall, will close out its season on Dec. 30 when the Tigers face Miami in the Chick-fil-A Peach in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The Hurricanes bring a 9-2 overall mark into the LSU games as Miami has won nine of its last 10 games since opening the season with a 10-7 loss to Florida State.
LSU is also ranked No. 10 in the nation in the Harris Interactive Poll, which was also released on Sunday. The USA Today/Coaches Poll and the Harris Interactive Poll make up two-thirds of the Bowl Championship Series standings formula.
LSU is ranked No. 12 in the final 2005 BCS standings with an average of .6293. LSU was previously ranked No. 4 in the BCS standings before the 34-14 loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
Miami is ranked No. 8 in the BCS and No. 9 in both the Harris Interactive and USA Today/Coaches polls.
