BATON ROUGE — Diving coach Doug Shaffer announced the early signing of highly touted Texas prospect Rachel Ware on Friday.
Ware, a native of Richmond, Texas, prepped at Foster High School and is a two-time 4A state champion. She is also a two-time NISCA All-American and a three-time Junior Olympic qualifier.
“I saw Rachel dive for the first time about two years ago at a Junior Olympic competition and have watched her develop ever since,” said Shaffer. “Rachel is a remarkable talent and has tremendous potential to be a top performer on the conference and national levels.”
Ware has proven experience at the national level, having finished 12th in the 3-meter springboard at the 2005 Winter National Championships. She was also a participant in several senior national competitions.
“LSU is fortunate to have Rachel’s commitment,” added Shaffer. “Her addition will give LSU one of the strongest and deepest women’s diving squads in the conference.”
