Men’s Tennis to Compete in Fundraiser Tournament

COLLEGE STATION, Texas ? The LSU men’s tennis team travels to College Station, Texas this weekend to play in the Wells Fargo Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser, hosted by Tulane.

This event is serving as a fundraiser for the Tulane men’s and women’s tennis programs, which have spent this past semester at Texas A&M due to damages the university suffered from Hurricane Katrina in September.

The tournament will also be the Tigers final tournament of the 2005 fall season and LSU head coach Jeff Brown is anxious to see his team finish strong.

“This tournament is very important because it should propel us into the spring,” said Brown. “We’ve been improving piece by piece throughout the fall and now we need to put it all together.”

Nine Tigers will be in action of Friday, including No. 17 ranked Ken Skupski, who will match up with Tyler Junior College’s Dustin Philips.

Second year man Martel Campbell will look follow up his strong showing last weekend, when he faces David Goulet of Texas A&M, Friday.

LSU will also participate in doubles play, with draws to be release Friday.
