BATON ROUGE — The LSU softball team held its third-annual Tiger Triathlon through the campus on Wednesday, in a course that included running, biking and swimming.
The Tigers began with a 200-meter swim at the Natatorium. The team then ran for two miles from the softball field to the levee before biking for two miles along the levee down River Road and finishing with a short run down Skip Bertman Drive.
Junior Emily Turner and sophomore transfer Shannon Stein won the event in a tie. Senior Lauren Castle finished in third, while senior first baseman Stephanie Hill finished fourth.
The Tigers will open the 2006 campaign at home in the Purple and Gold Classic from Feb. 10-12. LSU will take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Northwestern State, Stephen F. Austin and South Dakota State in the three-day tournament.
