BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team, hours after a public appearance Friday night before some 3,500 fans for the “Party at Pete’s Palace” practiced for 2 1/2-hours Saturday in the seclusion of the auxiliary gym of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in their first official practice of the year.
The 8 a.m. practice, held while fans outside were preparing their tailgates for the afternoon LSU-Florida football game, dealt primarily with defense and rebound, with a brief segment of 5-on-0 offense at the end.
“I felt that we progressed well to this 2 1/2-hour practice,” said LSU Coach John Brady. “I was pleased with our effort. The thing that sticks out is that we have a lot of teaching our younger player. Repetition and time will take care of that. But our approach and the attitude we showed was a positive and we will now move forward to our next practices on Sunday.”
