BATON ROUGE — LSU jumped back into the top 10 in both major polls on Sunday, a day following its 34-6 win over Vanderbilt in Nashville.
LSU moved three spots from No. 11 in to No. 8 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, while the Tigers edged up one spot to No. 10 in the Associated Press Top 25. LSU has now been ranked in the USA Today Coaches poll for 42 consecutive periods and for 41 straight weeks in the AP poll.
LSU, winners of two straight, returns to action on Saturday as the 3-1 Tigers host 11th-ranked Florida at 2:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium in a game televised to a national audience by CBS.
Southern Cal, Texas and Virginia Tech remain Nos. 1-3 in both polls. Georgia is the highest-ranked Southeastern Conference team in the polls, coming in at No. 4 in the USA Today poll and No. 5 in the AP poll.
Other SEC teams in the polls include Alabama at No. 6 in the AP poll and No. 7 in the coaches poll; Florida at No. 11 in the AP poll and No. 13 in the coaches poll; Tennessee at No. 17 in the AP poll and No. 18 in the coaches poll and Auburn at No. 20 in the coaches poll and No. 21 in the AP poll.
