TULSA, Okla. — The LSU men’s tennis team will continue their 2005 fall campaign with the first leg of the collegiate Grand Slam, the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships, starting Monday.
Tiger juniors Danny Bryan and Colt Gaston will begin play on Tuesday, in first round singles qualifying. Bryan will face Northwestern’s Willy Lock at 9:30 a.m. and Gaston will take on Louisville’s Jacob Gustafsson at 1:30 p.m.
“This tournament has every team, basically in the nation,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “It’s always a strong field and should give the guys a good indication of where they are.”
Gaston and Bryan, who are also ranked No. 27 by the ITA in doubles, received a bye from doubles qualifying and will play together as a team on Thursday, in the tournament’s main draw.
Senior Mark Growcott and junior Ken Skupski, ranked No. 1 in doubles, by the ITA, received byes in doubles as well as in singles play. The pair will begin play in both events on Thursday.
