BATON ROUGE — LSU dropped to No. 11 in both national polls on Sunday, just one day after its 37-7 win over Mississippi State in Starkville.
The Tigers, who played two games in the same calendar week for the first time in school history, entered the week ranked No. 4 in the nation. On Monday, the Tigers dropped a 30-27 overtime decision to Tennessee in Tiger Stadium.
Five days later, the Tigers regrouped to post a 37-7 victory over Mississippi State in Starkville.
The Tigers are ranked No. 12 in the Harris Poll, which released its top 25 for the second time this year on Sunday.
Other Southeastern Conference teams in the polls include Georgia at No. 4 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 5 in the Associated Press Poll; Alabama at No. 7 in the AP poll and No. 10 in the coaches poll; Tennessee at No. 7 in the coaches poll and No. 8 in the AP poll; Florida No. 13 in the AP poll and No. 15 in the coaches poll; and Auburn at No. 21 in the coaches poll and No. 22 in the AP poll.
LSU returns to action on Saturday when the 11th-ranked Tigers travel to face Vanderbilt in Nashville.
