BATON ROUGE — Tiger One, a one-of-a-kind mobile audio studio, arrived on the LSU campus on Wednesday after months of fabrication by LSU Sports Properties and Barrett Displays of Kansas City, Mo.
As the most innovative and high-quality mobile radio studio in all of college athletics, Tiger One will serve as LSU’s mobile radio station and unique hospitality venue for both home and away games in 2005-06.
Due to the Arizona State game being moved to Tempe, Ariz., Tiger One will debut on Sept. 26 for the LSU versus Tennessee football game.
On home football GameDays, Tiger One will operate adjacent to Tiger Stadium in Tiger One Village — on the grounds of the Maravich Center — and will follow the Tigers to their four scheduled road games to broadcast the “LSU GameDay presented by Cox Communications” pregame show.
The first hour of the “LSU GameDay presented by Cox Communications” pregame radio show will be broadcast live from Tiger One before “The Voice of the Tigers” Jim Hawthorne and color analyst Doug Moreau are escorted to Tiger Stadium aboard “Tiger Two” for the second hour of the show.
Along with the radio studio, Tiger One features a replica of the Tiger Stadium field on its roof that can accommodate up to 20 guests of LSU Sports Properties and a hospitality side opposite the radio studio that will be used to entertain these guests.
Additionally, the multimedia studio includes four 42-inch plasma screen monitors, a video game player, satellite radio, television, DVD players, GameDay chairs and more.
The graphic design for Tiger One was created by Peter Hoang of the LSU Athletics Publications Office.
On the road, Tiger One is designed to create a “home away from home” atmosphere when the Tigers travel, and will serve as a “rallying point” for those loyal Tigers fans that make road trips to see LSU football.
In addition to road football games, Tiger One will hit the road for other special events such as the SEC Basketball Tournament, the SEC Baseball Tournament and the College World Series. It is truly a one-of-a-kind concept is college athletics and will be an attraction wherever it goes.
