BATON ROUGE — The LSU softball team will host the five-team 2005 Fall Classic this weekend at Tiger Park.
The field includes LSU, Eastern Mississippi Junior College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, LSU-Eunice and Southeastern Louisiana.
There are three games scheduled for Saturday. Play will begin at 10 a.m. with LSU taking on Eastern Mississippi JC. The Tigers will then face Mississippi Gulf Coast CC at 12:30 p.m. Play concludes on Saturday with Eastern Mississippi JC facing Mississippi Gulf Coast CC at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, LSU begins action against LSUE at 10 a.m. The Tigers will then take on Southeastern at 12:30 p.m. LSUE will face Southeastern Louisiana in the tournament’s final game at 3 p.m.
Last season the Fall Classic was cancelled due to rain and LSU instead played against Southeastern Louisiana and Southern in a pair of doubleheaders.
The Tigers will open the 2006 season at home in the Purple & Gold Challenge on Feb. 10-12 in Tiger Park. LSU will face Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Northwestern State, South Dakota State and Stephen F. Austin in the three-day tournament.
