BATON ROUGE — Thirty-three former LSU football players were on NFL rosters when the league opened its first week of play this past weekend.

The Tigers have the most representation on the New England roster as four former LSU players play for the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots. Randall Gay, Marquise Hill, Jarvis Green and Kevin Faulk are all members of the Patriots squad with Gay and Green holding down starting positions for the team.

First-timers in the league for LSU in 2005 include Marcus Spears with the Dallas Cowboys, Travis Daniels with the Miami Dolphins, Corey Webster with the New York Giants, Marcus Randall with the Tennessee Titans, and Ben Wilkerson with the Cincinnati Bengals.

LSU also had two players join new teams this season as quarterback Matt Mauck jumped from the Denver Broncos to the Tennessee Titans and punter Donnie Jones went from Seattle to Miami.
