BATON ROUGE — After its thrilling 35-31 come-from-behind win over 15th-ranked Arizona State late Saturday night in Tempe, LSU jumped two spots to No. 3 in both national polls, which were released on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers, now 1-0 overall, have an open date on Saturday, Sept. 17, before hosting Tennessee on Sept. 24 in Tiger Stadium.

LSU received a total of 1,404 points in the Associated Press poll, to trail top-ranked Southern Cal (1,592 points) and second-ranked Texas (1,538). Virginia Tech is fourth in the AP poll, followed by Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Florida State, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

In the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Tigers picked up 1,336 points, which trails top-ranked Southern Cal (1,547) and second-ranked Texas (1,480). Tennessee and Virginia Tech are tied for fourth in the coaches poll with 1,311 points each. Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and Louisville round out of the top 10.

The No. 3 ranking is the highest for the Tigers since opening the 2004 season ranked No. 3 in the USA Today Coaches poll.
