Cox Communications Signs Multi-Year Deal with LSU Sports Properties

BATON ROUGE — Cox Communications has signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with LSU Sports Properties to become the “Official Communications Partner of LSU Athletics.” Cox Communications is the first corporate member of Team LSU — the highest level of support for LSU Athletics.

“This partnership has always been a win-win situation for Cox Communications, LSU and our community,” said Jacqui Vines, vice president and general manager of Cox Communications — Baton Rouge. “We are proud to be a part of Team LSU, as it is through partnerships like this one that we grow our economy and further our connection with customers and the communities we serve.”

“It has been our main goal for 25 years at Cox to provide our customers with the best programming, including local sports programming,” said Greg Bicket, vice president and regional manager of Cox Communications — New Orleans. “The team of Cox Sports Television and LSU Athletics is one way we are fulfilling this important goal for our customers.”

As part of the sponsorship agreement, Cox Communications will receive premium signage in all LSU athletic facilities; radio, television, Internet and game program advertising; game sponsorship benefits, tickets and hospitality access for sporting events, and use of the Team LSU mark for advertising and promotions.

In addition, Cox Communications’ advertising sales division, Cox Media will soon be launching the largest promotion in the history of LSU Athletics. Cox Media advertisers will have access to “Your Very Own Purple and Gold Throwdown,” a private party for 50 people with a live band, Louisiana-style dinner and appearances by Athletic Department personalities, Voice of the Tigers Jim Hawthorne, LSU cheerleaders, Mike the Tiger and Tiger One, a new mobile radio studio to be introduced at LSU football games this fall.

“This sponsorship is one of the most creative and comprehensive in all of college athletics,” said Ward Wyatt, director of sales of LSU Sports Properties. “Cox Communications understands the passion for LSU across the state of Louisiana and their partnership will help continue the winning tradition of LSU athletics for many years to come. We are pleased to have a company of the stature of Cox Communications as one of LSU athletics’ top corporate sponsors.”
