BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team’s home opener scheduled for Sept. 2 against South Alabama has been cancelled and its home match Sept. 4 against in-state opponent Louisiana-Lafayette has been moved Lafayette due to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Head coach Brian Lee said no make-up game would be scheduled with South Alabama, while Sunday’s game against UL-Lafayette will be played at 1 p.m. at the Cajun Track and Soccer Complex.
“Obviously, given the events of the last few days, a soccer game pales in comparison,” Lee said. “We hope to be around campus and doing everything we can to help the evacuees. Hopefully, Sunday’s game will be a nice diversion for our kids.”
Fans who have already purchased tickets for the game in Baton Rouge will be admitted despite the change in location.
