Kuzmic Named SEC Player of the Week

BATON ROUGE — Senior Ivana Kuzmic was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after leading the LSU volleyball team to a 3-0 mark at the Georgia Southern Invitational last weekend.

The GSU Invitational Most Valuable Player, Kuzmic was 12 for 13 on attacking attempts without an error for a .923 hitting percentage against Campbell, breaking the LSU single-match record. In addition, that mark is tied for 22nd in NCAA single-match history.

The native of Split, Croatia, also led or tied for the match lead in blocks in all three LSU matches on the week. For the season, she is averaging 3.00 kills per game with a .630 hitting percentage and 1.40 blocks per game.

This is the first SEC Player of the Week honor of her career and the second SEC honor of her career. Last season, Kuzmic earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 20, after posting back-to-back double-figure blocking matches.

The Tigers return to action next weekend at the Georgia State Invitational in Atlanta. LSU will face the host Lady Panthers on Friday at 5 p.m. (CST) before facing Jacksonville State and Wright State on Saturday at noon and 4 p.m. (CST) respectively.
