LSU Board of Supervisors Approves Long-Term Multimedia Deal

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Board of Supervisors on Friday approved a long-term agreement for Viacom Sports to manage the multi-media rights of the LSU athletics program for the next 10 years.

Viacom Sports will do business as LSU Sports Properties in its representation of LSU athletics in the sports marketing community.

The agreement gives LSU Sports Properties the right to market all rights associated with LSU athletics’ corporate sponsorship packages; on-premise signage; radio, television, print, Internet; game sponsorships; premium hospitality; event marketing; and promotions well into the next decade. LSU Sports Properties will assume the rights to the LSU Gameday programs beginning in July of 2006.

“This has been a thorough process that has resulted in a very advantageous position for LSU athletics,” said LSU Athletics Director Skip Bertman. “We have accomplished our goal of creating a single source through which local, regional and national companies can establish a high-profile identification with LSU athletics, resulting in higher revenues for the athletics program.”

LSU Sports Properties has developed several initiatives that will enhance athletic facilities, the overall game day experience and the service of sponsors. Tiger One Village will be a new fixture of all home LSU football games in 2005, providing a public venue for the live pre-game radio show, hospitality and spectator entertainment.

New signage installed at Tiger Stadium and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center will entertain fans and offer sponsors more visibility. Programming on the LSU Sports Radio Network has been expanded with LSU Athletics daily updates 40 weeks out of the year and a new “LSU Sunday Night Live!” show.

“We put together a team of seasoned professionals from Louisiana along with our current staff that has hit the ground running in enhancing the LSU brand,” said Vice President and General Manager of Viacom Sports, Doug Paschal.
