BATON ROUGE — LSU assistant coach Dana Boone has resigned from the track and field staff to take a position at Oklahoma, head coach Dennis Shaver announced Monday.

Boone, who assisted with the women’s sprints and hurdles this past season, also oversaw LSU’s recruiting, academics and the team’s involvement with the CHAMPS program.

“When I was promoted to the head coaching position, my immediate goal was to hire an assistant who had extensive experience in a Division I program whose goal was to be nationally competitive. Dana professionalism, experience in coaching and recruiting matched the criteria important to the duties,” said Shaver. “The University of Oklahoma has offered Dana a position with the responsibility of designing and implementing training programs for the women sprint and hurdle events. While I hate to see her leave, for Dana professionally, the added responsibilities and challenges it presents her fits perfectly in the steps towards her career goals.”

With the Sooners, Boone will handle all responsibilities involving the women’s sprints and hurdles events.

“I want to thank LSU for the opportunity that I did have here to be a part of this wonderful staff. I really enjoyed my time here,” said Boone. “While my stay here was a lot quicker than I thought it would be, I was presented with a great opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up. I will always treasure this year that I had here. It’s a phenomenal situation and I am just grateful for the opportunity.”
