BATON ROUGE — The price of a ticket for LSU men’s basketball games will increase by a minimum of $1 per seat and up to $4 per seat in the newly renovated Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Additionally, a new reduced-price youth ticket will be available for only $5 per game beginningin the 2005-06 season, the LSU Athletics Department announced Wednesday.
Also, the price of a season ticket in women’s basketball will increase from $75 for the year to a new pricing structure ranging from $80 up to $125, and individual game tickets will increase by a minimum of $1 per seat and up to $3 per seat.
In addition, beginning with the 2005-06 season, $1 from every ticket sold to an LSU men’s basketball game will go into the University Environmental Fund to help maintain and improve the LSU campus. The actions are subject to approval of the LSU Board of Supervisors.
The Pete Maravich Assembly Center is currently undergoing a $5.2 million renovation that will include all new seating, expanded restrooms, improved ADA accessibility and an improved sound system. The renovation will be complete by the beginning of the 2005-06 season.
LSU athletics director Skip Bertman said the price adjustments will help fund more future improvements.
“This is a modest increase in our ticket price in order for us to continue to move forward our basketball programs,” Bertman said. “One of our short term goals is to begin a feasibility study for a new basketball practice facility for both our men’s and women’s basketball teams, and this move is the first step in making that happen.”
In men’s basketball, youths between the ages of 3 to 12 years old will be admitted for only $5 per game. In the past, youths have been required to pay full price for a ticket.
“We want our fans to be able to enjoy LSU basketball as a family, and at the same time we hope to create a new generation of Tiger basketball fans,” Bertman said.
In men’s basketball, single game Upper Level seats will increase in cost from $12 to $14 for Southeastern Conference games and premier non-SEC games, and from $10 to $11 for all other games. A new Prime Upper section has been created, with tickets costing $16 for SEC and premier non-SEC games in the middle three sections of the Upper Level, and $13 in those sections for all other games.
Middle Level seats will increase in cost from $14 to $17 for Southeastern Conference games and premier non-SEC games, and from $12 to $14 for all other games. A new Prime Middle section has been created, with tickets costing $19 for SEC and premier non-SEC games in the middle two sections of the Middle Level, and $15 in those sections for all other games.
Lower Level seats will increase in cost from $15 to $19 for Southeastern Conference games and premier non-SEC games, and from $13 to $15 for all other games.
The cost of a men’s basketball season ticket varies from year to year, depending on the number of home games. The season ticket is determined by multiplying the number of games times the cost of the single game ticket.
In women’s basketball, season tickets will cost $80 in the Upper Level, $95 in the Middle Level, and $125 in the Prime Middle section and Lower Level. Individual game prices will increase from $7 in the Middle and Lower levels to $10 in the Lower Level and $8 in the Middle Level, while Upper Level tickets will increase from $5 to a new price of $6. Youth tickets for LSU women’s basketball games will remain at $3 per game.
