HELSINKI, Finland — Muna Lee, the most decorated track and field athlete in LSU history, finished seventh in the 100-meter dash Monday at the IAAF World Championships as action continued from Olympic Stadium.

Lee breezed through the morning’s semifinal rounds, posting a season-best time of 11.10 in advancing to the evening’s final.

Drawing lane eight for the final race, Lee went on to record a second-straight season best, crossing the line in 11.09. Despite the seventh-place showing, Lee was still just out of the medal hunt as less than .01 seconds separated fourth through seventh places. United States teammate Lauryn Williams won the race in 10.93.

Action from the World Championships will continue Tuesday as competition in the men’s decathlon as well as the men’s 400 meters and the triple jump get underway.
