HELSINKI, Finland — Former Lady Tiger sprinter Muna Lee advanced to the semifinals in the 100-meter dash Sunday at the IAAF World Championships as action continued from Olympic Stadium.
Lee coasted through both the qualifying and quarterfinal round heats, finishing second in both with times of 11.40 and 11.22, respectively.
Also competing in the 100 meters was Lady Tiger sophomore Kelly Baptiste. Running for her native Trinidad and Tobago, Baptiste automatically advanced to the quarterfinals after clocking 11.48 in the qualifying round. Baptiste then placed 18th in the quarterfinals with a time of 11.42 to miss moving on to the semifinals by .09 seconds.
Also in action were quartermilers Ronetta Smith and Hazelann Regis. Smith finished 25th in the women’s 400 meters, crossing the line in 52.26, while Regis followed in 28th with a time of 52.51.
