HELSINKI, Finland — Former Lady Tigers Neisha Bernard-Thomas and Marian Burnett concluded their summer track and field seasons Saturday at the IAAF World Championships, failing to advance out of the first round heats of the 800 meters at Olympic Stadium.

Bernard-Thomas was just one spot shy of earning an automatic bid to the semifinal round, finishing fifth in her qualifying round heat, and 27th overall, with a time of 2:02.50. Burnett placed 33rd, and sixth in her heat, with a time of 2:09.88.

Action for the World Championships continues Sunday morning. Lady Tiger sophomore Kelly Baptiste and former LSU great, Muna Lee, are slated for action in the 100-meter dash, while Hazelann Regis and Ronetta Smith will take to the track in the 400 meters.
