Third-Annual Shaquille O’Neal Classic to be Held September 2

BATON ROUGE — The third annual Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills Golf Classic is set for Friday, Sept. 2, at Carter Plantation, former LSU golfer and PGA Champion David Toms’ first signature golf course, located in Springfield.

The tournament, presented by Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, benefits the Shaquille O’Neal CHAMPS/Life Skills Program, which helps LSU student-athletes prepare for life after college through a variety of events, educational workshops, career seminars and community service projects.

There will be two rounds, at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with both rounds of play concluding with a jambalaya meal and awards ceremony. The event is set for the eve of LSU’s football season opener in Baton Rouge against North Texas on Sept. 3.

All tournament foursomes have been filled, but tournament sponsorships are still available and the CHAMPS program is still taking donations. If you would like your name to be put on the mailing list for next year’s event, please contact CHAMPS Director Mike Mallet at mmallet@lsu.edu or CHAMPS Assistant Director Jennifer Board at jenboard@lsu.edu.
