BATON ROUGE — The Preston Williams Benefit Softball Tournament will be held August 26-28 at Leisure Corners Ball Park in White Castle, La.

Preston Williams, the six-week-old son of former LSU baseball star Jason Williams, has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

The Louisiana softball community is playing host to the tournament to raise money to assist the Williams family with medical bills and treatments. The tournament will feature current and former LSU coaches and players.

Jason Williams, a native of Gonzales, La., was an all-America infielder for the Tigers, and he helped lead LSU to the 1993 and 1996 College World Series titles. He was also the starting shortstop for the 1996 United States Olympic bronze-medal team.

Teams and individuals wishing to participate in the tournament or make donations should contact tournament director Brian Desselles:
