BATON ROUGE — For the second consecutive year, sophomore outfielder Leslie Klein was named a first-team All-American by the Jewish Sports Review, as announced in the July/August issue.
A member of the USA Softball Player of the Year Watch List and a Purple & Gold Challenge All-Tournament team selection, Klein earned the honor after hitting .310 on the season with 24 runs scored, nine doubles, a triple and 21 RBIs.
After missing the first eight games of the season while recovering from her second torn ACL in two years, she returned to rank fourth on the team in batting average and fifth in doubles and RBIs. On 10 occasions, she recorded multiple-hit games and seven times posted multiple-RBI games.
The Sunrise, Fla., native, knocked in what proved to be the game-winning runs against SEC rivals Mississippi State and Ole Miss. After just two seasons, she ranks in the top 10 in LSU history in career doubles, triples and home runs.
The Jewish Sports Review is a bi-monthly publication that has been recognized as the foremost authority on Jewish athletes in sports. The All-America softball team was comprised of Jewish athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III schools.
