BATON ROUGE — The 2005 class of All-Stars for the Louisiana High School Coaches Association/Coca-Cola All-Star games reported to the LSU campus on Sunday and went through the preliminary activities in preparation for the first day of practice on Monday.

The players went through physicals, received their game jerseys, took team and individual pictures and then attended an evening social in the East side Tiger Den Suites at Tiger Stadium before returning to their campus dorms for the evening.

Practice sessions begin early Monday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the girls’ basketball practices with the East working out in the auxiliary gym of the Maravich Assembly Center and the West team practicing at nearby University High School. The football squads will also begin practice at 8:30 a.m. with both the East and West squads working out on the Charles McClendon practice fields at LSU.

The volleyball teams will begin workouts at the Louisiana School for the Deaf near the campus beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the boys’ basketball squads will have their first practice at 10:30 a.m. with the East team in the auxiliary gym of the Maravich Center and the West at U-High.

The basketball teams will reverse location for their afternoon practices that for the girls begin at 2 p.m. with the boys to follow at 3:30 p.m. The afternoon football sessions begin at 4 p.m. and the second volleyball practice of the day is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Because of the construction presently underway at the host school, LSU, to the Maravich Center and Tiger Stadium, all the game action will be held on the Southern University campus in a joint agreement between the LSU and Southern University Athletic Departments.

The volleyball match, being played for the 24th time, will be played Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the F. G. Clark Activity Center at Southern. The East holds a 19-4 advantage in the series.

The girls and boys basketball games will be held on Thursday night with the doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. at the Clark Center at Southern. The East girls have won the last five meetings, but the West holds a 17-14 advantage in the 31 years of competition. The boys’ game is being conducted for the 54th time dating back to 1952 with the East holding a slim 27-26 advantage.

This will be the 68th meeting of the teams in the All-Star football classic that is set for Southern’s Mumford Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The West won last year’s game, but the East still holds a substantial 38-27-2 lead in the series.

Advance tickets for the All-Stars are on sale at www.LSUsports.net or at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office. Tickets are $7 per person for each event. Tickets will be sold on game night at both the F. G. Clark Activity Center and Mumford Stadium beginning 90 minutes prior to the start of the game.
