BATON ROUGE — LSU women’s golfer Kimberly Meck was named Saturday by the National Golf Coaches Association as one of its All-American scholar-athletes for the 2004-05 season.
Meck, who finished her freshman season at LSU this past season, was one of 199 women’s Division I collegiate golfers honored by the women’s golf coaches group. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have completed in at least 66 percent of the college’s regular scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Meck played in nine tournaments and 27 rounds as a freshman for the nationally ranked Lady Tigers, averaging 76.78 per round. The Austin, Texas native had one top 10 finish, a seventh place showing in the SEC Women’s Championships at Tunica, Miss., when she had rounds of 73-75-78. She also posted a 13th place finish in her first LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic at the University of Club of Baton Rouge.
