PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago — Lady Tigers freshman Kelly Baptiste continued to excel at the Sagicor National Open Track and Field Championships over the weekend, winning the 200-meter dash at Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Baptiste, who won the 100 meters with a personal best time of 11.17 seconds on Saturday, followed that up with a second national title in the 200 meters. After a slow start in the first 100 meters, the Tobago native picked up speed, blowing by eventual runner-up Ayanna Hutchinson to cross the line in 22.94.
The time was just .01 seconds off her personal best of 22.93 set earlier this year at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships.
