Kiernan Eliminated From Wimbledon in Second Round

LONDON — Former LSU tennis standout Daniel Kiernan and his partner James Auckland fell to the second-seeded team of Bob and Mike Bryan of the United States on Saturday in the second round of the doubles draw at the 2005 Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Club.

The duo from the United Kingdom dropped the match in four sets, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6. Kiernan advanced to the second round of the competition for the first time in his career as he was eliminated in the first round in his only other appearance in 2004.

Kiernan received four letters at LSU and earned Second-Team All-SEC honors as a senior in 2002. He guided the Tigers to an SEC Championship and No. 4 final ranking in 1999, and finished his career with an 84-47 record in singles competition.
