BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — LSU senior swimmers Margaret Anne Moore and Ryan Cochran were named to the Southeastern Conference’s Swimming and Diving Good Works Team, the league announced.
Moore, a native of Laurel, Miss., served as an active member of the LSU CHAMPS Life Skills program, designed to enhance the lives of young children. The senior also was a team leader in the school’s Christmas toy drive. Moore participated in LSU’s Halloween BOOzar, delivering candy and playing games with local children during the holiday. She also reads to elementary students on a monthly basis at respective schools across the area.
Moore recently wrapped her senior season as a freestyle and individual medley swimmer. She is a two-time recipient of the College of Education’s student of the year award and has twice been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. The honor student has maintained a 3.97 grade point average during her career.
Cochran, a native of Hoover, Ala., served as co-captain on this year’s squad with Jared Strecker. Cochran has also been a positive influence on the lives of young children in the CHAMPS program. He has been a part of several community service projects.
Cochran was the Tigers’ highest finisher in the 200 butterfly at the SEC Championships last February. He was also a constant in all three freestyle events on the season.
