Men’s Tennis Faces Arkansas Saturday, Senior Day

BATON ROUGE — LSU will honor its two seniors Saturday in the team’s regular season finale against Arkansas at 1 p.m. in W.T. Robinson Tennis Stadium.

The No.15 Tigers (17-7, 4-6 SEC) are riding a four-match win streak after Wednesday’s 6-1 victory over No. 18 Tulane.

Jason Hazley and Peter Richman are both fourth-year seniors for the Tigers. Hazley, a Bradenton, Fla. native, is a two-time All-SEC and three-time All-Louisiana selection. Richman, of Toronto, was named All-Louisiana twice and All-SEC once.

“Jason and Peter have meant a lot to this program,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “They had fight and intensity when they had to play high in the lineup. They never looked away from that responsibility.”

Both Hazley and Richman played at No. 1 singles during their careers.

“Now that they are on a team with a little more depth, they are really flourishing,” Brown said. “We really appreciate everything they’ve done for us.”

Richman and Hazley play together in the No. 3 position on LSU’s powerful doubles lineup, which has not lost a double point in the last nine matches. Hazley has also won his last three singles matches and Richman has won four.

With a win Saturday, LSU can match its win total from last season before post-season play begins.

No. 75-ranked Rohan Gajjar leads the Razorbacks (5-14, 2-8 SEC). They have fallen just short in three 3-4 losses in SEC play.

“Arkansas has been on the fringe of some upset wins,” Brown said. They have the manpower to test us. We have to play with the same mindset as we did earlier this week against Tulane.”

After Saturday’s match, LSU will travel to Athens, Ga. for the SEC Tournament.
