BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team plays its second match in three days when it travels to Auburn, Ala., to face conference and division rival Auburn at 4 p.m. Friday.

At 8-9 overall and 1-7 in the SEC, LSU is tied for third in the SEC West and ninth in the conference with Alabama.

Auburn is yet to win an SEC contest at 0-8 and is 6-11 overall. They have lost their last nine matches and are tied for last in the SEC with Arkansas.

The Lady Tigers have won two straight matches against Auburn and four of the last five.

“Auburn’s record doesn’t necessarily reflect it, but they’re another good SEC team and I expect nothing less than a battle like all our other matches,” head coach Tony Minnis said.

Though LSU is on a six-match conference losing skid, they did pick up a quality non-conference win Wednesday on the road at Purdue.

In that match, LSU swept the doubles point and got victories from the bottom three singles courts to earn the 4-3 win.

Freshman Tiffany Tucker, who won her third straight, and junior Camila Caliari, who won her fourth in a row, look to keep their streaks alive.

“Everybody has to contribute for us to be successful,” Minnis said. “We need to keep the confidence from our last win and carry that over and hope to build on it.”
