BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — LSU sprint standout Xavier Carter was named the SEC Men’s Indoor Freshman Runner of the Year it was announced Friday by the league office.
Carter, a native of Melbourne, Fla., ran the fourth fastest time in the world in the indoor 200 meters, clocking 20.39 at the SEC Championships. An NCAA qualifier and All-SEC selection in event, Carter shattered the school record three times during the season before posting the personal best mark.
Carter also ran the 60-meter dash during the indoor campaign where he posted a PR time of 6.74. The performance ranks as the fifth fastest in Tiger school history.
