Men’s Tennis Faces Vanderbilt on Sunday at Noon

BATON ROUGE — The No. 16 LSU men’s tennis team will try to salvage its weekend Sunday when they host Vanderbilt at noon in the W.T. Robinson Tennis Stadium.

The Tigers (12-6, 0-5 SEC) are still searching for their first conference win after three extremely tight matches have gone their opponents’ ways in league play. They lost to Kentucky, 4-3 on Friday.

“This team isn’t far from where we need to be,” Brown said. “We’ve lost a lot of 4-3 matches recently but we’re still top-20 in the nation and capable of better than that.”

The Commodores (9-6, 1-4 SEC) are also looking to rebound after falling to Arkansas, 4-3 Friday in Fayetteville. No. 40 Vanderbilt is reloading this season but is just three years removed from an NCAA finals appearance.

“They’re a young team in the bottom of the lineup,” Brown said. “But their guys at top have been on a national finals team. We know what they’re capbable of.”

Senior and 38th-ranked Scott Brown leads Vanderbilt at the top of the singles and doubles lineups.

LSU beat Vanderbilt last year when the teams met in Nashville. The Tigers lead the all-time series, 38-14.
