BATON ROUGE — LSU head coach Les Miles put his football team through a two and a half hour workout Thursday at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility, capping the afternoon session with Tigers’ first live scrimmage of the spring.
“It ended a five-day span where we finished on a scrimmage of about an hour in length,” said Miles. “I thought the team had five good practices, and I thought they did a good job with today’s scrimmage.”
The scrimmage included 30 live snaps for the offense and defense with some additional special teams work.
“The operation time of the offense was good. It felt like the offense was a little bit further ahead because of the fact we didn’t change the terminology. We’re very consistent with the offense they’ve run in the past.
“Defensively, I think they’re getting lined up and playing hard, but there’s some improvement that needs to take place there. I did think we were pretty sharp punting the football today, and I think we hit a couple long field goals,” said Miles.
Today’s practice was the last for LSU before it takes 10 days off for Spring Break. Practices resumes on Tuesday, March 29.
“I really have seen improvement from practice one to practice five. I think the team as a whole has really improved.”
The Tigers’ spring practice concludes April 16 with a final scrimmage in Tiger Stadium.
