Tigers Return Home to Face South Florida

BATON ROUGE — After almost five weeks of matches away from home, the No. 20 LSU men’s tennis team will return to W.T. Robinson Stadium on Thursday to face South Florida at 2 p.m.

“It’s going to be nice to be on our home court for the next four matches after a month on the road,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown.

The break from Southeastern Conference matches could not come at a better time for the Tigers (10-5, 0-4 SEC), who went 3-5 over the road stretch with matches against six teams ranked in the top-20 in the latest ITA poll.

The match against South Florida (3-9) match is the first of four consecutive home matches, including a noon competition this Sunday against Michigan.

“South Florida is a talented team,” Brown said. “They’ve played many teams close and they’ve lost a lot of three-set matches.”

Brown has tinkered with the singles lineup over the past few matches, alternating No. 10-ranked Ken Skupski and Mark Growcott at the first two positions and seniors Peter Richman and No. 99 Jason Hazley in the three and four spots.

The doubles lineup, featuring sixth-ranked Growcott and Skupski at the No. 1 position and 49th-ranked Hazley and Danny Bryan, has remained fairly constant for the past several matches.

LSU can snap a four-match losing streak against the Bulls.
