Diving Announces Two Texas Signees

Tigers Look to Qualify at Zone ‘B’ Diving Meet

ATLANTA — Five LSU divers will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships at the NCAA Zone B Diving Meet held at Georgia Tech’s Aquatic Center this Friday through Sunday, March 11-13.

The top 13 men and 11 women will advance to their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The women’s NCAA meet will take place March 17-19, in West Lafayette, Ind., at Purdue University. Minnesota will host the men’s NCAA meet, March 24-26, in Minneapolis, Minn.

The men’s 1-meter preliminaries will begin at 10:30 a.m. ET Friday and conclude with a finals session at 12:45 p.m. ET. The women’s 3-meter will take place at 4:15 p.m. ET.

On Saturday, the women will take part in the 1-meter, while the men compete in the 3-meter. The three-day event concludes on Sunday with the platform competition.

Jessica Wantz, competing in her final NCAA Zone competition will look to score in an event she has dominated throughout her career, the 3-meter on Friday. Hali Saucier will be making her second consecutive zone appearance, and freshman Paige Brown will compete at her first NCAA qualifying competition.

On the men’s side, LSU will count on scores from freshman Niko Dalman and sophomore Andrew Keane.

“Since the SEC Championships, we have trained well,” said diving coach Doug Shaffer. “We have gotten acclimated to the beautiful facility here and look forward to the weekend. As in any competition, you have to rise to the level of your opponents. Hopefully, our fundamentals will carry us through.”
