BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team tumbled eight spots to No. 17 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll released Tuesday following a difficult opening weekend of Southeastern Conference play.

The Tigers (10-3, 0-2 SEC) lost to Florida and South Carolina this weekend, ending a three-match win streak. Florida was seventh in this week’s poll. South Carolina was 30th.

LSU was ranked ninth in last week’s poll, their highest mark since 2000.

Several LSU players remained near the top of the singles and doubles polls despite falling slightly.

Sophomore Ken Skupski remained one of only two players in the country ranked in the top-10 of both polls. He was 10th in singles, down from fifth two weeks ago. He and Mark Growcott were down two spots to sixth in the doubles poll.

Jason Hazley was also listed in both singles and doubles. He was 99th in singles and 49th in doubles with Danny Bryan.

LSU has a chance to enhance its national standing this weekend when they play at No. 6 Georgia and No. 21 Tennessee.
