BATON ROUGE — Despite solid showings as the SEC Indoor Championships over the weekend LSU’s women’s track and field team fell to No. 3 in the national rankings and the Tigers dropped to No. 10 according to the Trackwire 25 released Tuesday.
Stanford held on to its No. 1 position in the women’s poll, while SEC champions Tennessee jumped ahead of the Lady Tigers into second. Florida and Nebraska are fourth and fifth, respectively.

Sophomore Tina Harris jumped to No. 2 in the women’s long jump standings after earning All-SEC honors in the event at the conference championships. In addition, freshman Kelly Baptiste broke into the ranking in the 60-meter dash. She is listed at No. 12.
For the men, freshman standout Xavier Carter is ranked No. 2 in the country in the 200 meters. He posted the second fastest time in the world this season at the SEC Championships, clocking a school record 20.39.
Junior Kelly Willie is listed at No. 4 in the 400 meters. In addition, senior Willie Bradley is sixth in the triple jump.
Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers 4×400-meter relay teams are also ranked. The women held on to their No. 1 ranking after posting a NCAA and world leading time of 3:29.06 over the weekend. The men dropped to No. 2 after finishing second at the conference championships.
