NEW ORLEANS — The baseball game between Tulane and LSU scheduled for Tuesday, April 19 at Zephyr Field in Metairie, La. will be televised nationally by ESPN2. Tulane is currently ranked No. 1 in the country by Baseball America, while LSU is No. 2 in the Sports Weekly/ESPN poll.
The first pitch at Zephyr Field, which is home to the Triple A farm club of the Washington Nationals and seats approximately 11,000, has been moved up to 6 p.m. (CDT) to accommodate the national television broadcast. The game was originally slated to begin at 7 p.m. Central Time.
The nationally-televised contest will mark LSU’s 56th appearance on either ESPN or ESPN2. The Tigers first appeared on ESPN on April 22, 1984 at Miami (Fla.).
The Zephyr Field game is the second of a home-and-home series between Tulane and LSU in 2005 with the first game scheduled for Tuesday, March 8 at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.
Tulane will also play defending national champion Cal State Fullerton at Zephyr Field on March 12 and fans can currently buy tickets to both the LSU and the Cal State Fullerton games in a two-game “Z Pack” for $25. If available, any remaining tickets to the April 19 LSU game will be put on individual sale on March 19 for $17 each.
