BATON ROUGE — Sunday’s LSU-Nicholls State baseball game has been postponed due to heavy rain in the Baton Rouge area. The game will now be played at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Alex Box Stadium.
Fans may present their tickets from Sunday’s game in order to be admitted to Monday’s make-up game. Tickets for Monday’s game may be also purchased at www.lsusports.net or at the Alex Box Stadium ticket office two hours prior to first pitch.
LSU (2-0) has defeated Nicholls State (0-2) in the first two games of the series by scores of 12-1 and 19-2.
Junior left-hander Greg Smith (2-0, 2.35 ERA) is scheduled to start Monday’s game for LSU, while Nicholls State will counter with junior southpaw Marcus Markray, a transfer from Paris (Texas) JC.
The last time LSU played a regular-season game on a Monday was on April 1, 1996 at Turchin Stadium in New Orleans, where the Tigers beat Tulane, 3-1. In 1995, LSU played two games on a Monday night at Alex Box Stadium — March 27 vs. Louisiana College and May 1 vs. Southeastern Louisiana.
