BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Brandon Bass and Louisiana Tech’s Tasha Crain were named Men’s and Women’s Player of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, it was announced on Wednesday.
Bass, a sophomore forward for the Tigers, led LSU to a pair of victories last week. The Baton Rouge native, who also was awarded the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honor, averaged 20.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks in the wins over Ole Miss and Mississippi State, including 26 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks against the then No. 22 Bulldogs.
Crain, a junior guard for the Lady Techsters, averaged 22.5 points, 4.0 assist and 3.0 rebounds in Tech’s two games last week. The Kingsland, Ark., native scored 18 points in the loss at Boise State and added a game-high 27 points in the win over UTEP.
The LSWA selects a weekly Player of the Week for men’s and women’s basketball from a list of nominations submitted by the state schools.
