ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The LSU women’s tennis team will warm up for the dual match season beginning this weekend at the Michigan Invitational against top competition from Michigan, Georgia Tech and Eastern Michigan.
The Lady Tigers had a successful fall season and begin their spring schedule in three weeks, but head coach Tony Minnis said this tournament is an opportunity to carry the success into dual play.
“We had a solid fall and this is good chance to continue that,” he said. “It is important to establish how we will compete on a consistent basis.”
The rest of the field will provide a big challenge for the Lady Tigers to prep them for their upcoming schedule.
“Michigan finished in the top-25 last year and Georgia Tech is much improved,” Minnis said. “Eastern Michigan’s top player was high in the last rankings.”
Play begins Friday and will continue all weekend in a hidden dual match format.
