ATHENS, Ga. — Senior Jessica Wantz and sophomore Hali Saucier highlighted the LSU diving team’s performance as day two of the Georgia Invitational came to a close Tuesday evening at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
Wantz, who took runner-up honors in the 3-meter shootout on Monday, took home a second-place finish again on Tuesday, this time in the 1-meter shootout. She qualified by placing ninth in the 1-meter finals with a score of 243.90.
Saucier delivered an equally impressive performance posting a fifth-place finish out of 37 divers in the 1-meter competition. She scored a mark of 260.50 and then topped that in the shootout portion of the event by placing fourth.
“It was a great competition for Hali and Jessica,” said diving coach Doug Shaffer. “For Hali, it is a big competitive step in a real championship environment, and she continues to progress at that level.”
LSU also had three participants in the men’s 3-meter event. For the second consecutive day Adam Hebert was the Tigers highest finisher, scoring a mark of 464.80 to place 14th.
Freshman Niko Dalman finished 16th (431.10), while Andrew Keane was 20th (417.25) in the 3-meter.
The three-day event comes to a close with the platform competition beginning Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET. Following the completion of the meet, the divers will rejoin the LSU swimmers for a dual meet at Kentucky on Jan. 13.
