ATHENS, Ga. — The LSU diving team completed a successful day one of the Georgia Invitational from Athens on Monday evening.
Senior Jessica Wantz continued where she left off in her last meet by qualifying for the 3-meter finals. Wantz dove a score of 462.70 in the final round to place fifth.
The top six finish earned her a place in the annual shootout round, which capped the day’s events. Each finalist competed in elimination rounds, and Wantz took runner-up honors in what has become an annual event.
Hali Saucier and Paige Brown also competed on Monday, placing 14th and 22nd, respectively.
Adam Hebert was the Tigers highest finisher in the men’s 1-meter, posting a score of 272.10 to place 14th in the preliminaries. Freshman Niko Dalman scored right behind Hebert, finishing 15th with a mark of 265.60.
Georgia’s Chris Cowill won the event by collecting a score of 366.10.
Events continue on Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET, beginning with the women’s 1-meter preliminaries. The men’s 3-meter competition will follow, while finals sessions for both events get underway at 6 p.m. ET.
